Sarah Grocutt: Founder of Fitness Excel Training & Education, with over 30 years of teaching in the fields of health education, passionate about physical education and the great outdoors. Having completed two marathons, Berlin & New York, a 7 day trekking expedition in the Alps, Chamonix, Mont Blanc Region, cycled Vesuvius, Italy and undertaken two Camino de Santiago walks in Spain as well as other numerous walks and runs throughout the UK and Europe.
I offer personal training, a tailored programme for clients, whether it be personal fitness or to undertake their own challenge as well as running groups exercise classes and vocational training courses in fitness and health.

My approach is a balanced lifestyle and I help clients to develop their knowledge and skills to enable them to fulfil their potential.
After studying for my Bachelor’s degree in science at the Open University, Birmingham, I studied for my Certificate and Diploma in Education at the University of Worcester, whilst teaching at the prestigious Elmhurst School for Dance, Birmingham, affiliated to the Birmingham Royal Ballet, this school attracts gifted and talented dancers from all over the world. As part of the academic dance department, I delivered vocational training courses in Pilates and Exercise for Children as part of the Trinity Dance Diploma. Later, I gained QTLS (Qualified Teacher Learning & Skills Status Award) through the Society of Training & Education, to which I am a member).
Fitness Excel is a UK based business, a registered training provider for vocational courses, accredited through YMCA and OCR Governing Bodies in the UK. The business undergoes quality assurance inspections annually to ensure quality and standards are maintained with all our vocational qualifications which are delivered. Fitness Excel works with a freelance team of tutors/assessors who bring a wealth of experience, their own specialisms of expertise. Our team are qualified to degree level, some with Masters Degrees in their relevant fields.
Some of our projects delivered included: Vocational teacher training courses in Pilates Level 3 which enabled dance students to study for an additional qualification to enhance their career prospects whilst complimenting their professional dance lessons whilst the Teacher Training Exercise for Children Course, enabled the dance students to design lessons based around the PE curriculum, including dance. Moreover, the course module included designing lessons for children with special needs to enable inclusive education and integrating those with disabilities into mainstream PE lessons.
Having worked with professional dancers, sports people as well as those with medical conditions, 17 years working in NHS Nuffield Hospital Trust has given me a wide range of experience and skills and helped students gain recognised qualifications.
Furthermore, I have extensive international experience to include; lifestyle consultant for P & O Cruises, European projects, lecturer for University of Stafford teaching Biology, and sessional lecturer at University of Worcester. Work experience placements in Tenerife, funding through Leonardo da Vinci Funding and Ecorys. This funding enabled students to take part in a 3 week international work experience in the fields of sport and exercise, to gain a Europass, which enhanced their career and study prospects. Subsequently, Fitness Excel Training won an educational highly recommended award for this project which linked Spanish language training to vocational qualifications in health.
